Each juror is mailed a “Summons to Jury Service.” This document includes the following information:
- Term of Service
- Juror ID Number
- Juror Sequence Number
- Court Website
- Court Email
- Court Telephone Number
Jurors are randomly assigned an individual Juror Sequence Number for the jury term. This number will identify you and is how you will know when you are required to report.
NOTIFICATION: Jurors are required to call the specific court where they will be serving on jury duty beginning on Friday after business hours through the weekend to listen to a recorded message to hear if their juror sequence number has been selected for jury service for the following week.
The recording will contain the following information (it is important that you listen to the entire message).
- Jurors are informed by juror sequence number as to what time and date to be present.
- Jurors not scheduled to come in are informed when to call again for further information.
- Jurors are informed to call the evening prior to a scheduled trial to check if the trial has been cancelled or if it is still scheduled.
It is imperative that jurors call as instructed and be present when requested to do so.
EXCUSALS: If you need to be excused for doctor’s appointments, vacations, etc., during your term, you must call the court as soon as you know you need time off (preferably at least two weeks in advance). Jurors are assigned to trials about one week before a scheduled trial. If you have not provided the court with excusal dates in advance, you will not be excused from serving.
